The new SONY VPL-PHZ61 is a bright and at the same time compact laser projector, according to SONY even the smallest 3LCD laser projector in its class. This successor model of the VPL-PHZ60 is even equipped with 6400 ANSI lumens brightness and can be used in large and bright rooms at any time. With a volume level of 34dB in Eco mode, the VPL-PHZ61 is quiet enough for a projector with this light output to hold professional meetings and discussions. The VPL-PHZ61 now even offers native support for 4K/60p input signals. Flexibility is what you get with the VPL-PHZ61 Thanks to the 1.6x zoom and vertical and horizontal lens shift, you always have flexibility, so nothing stands in the way of the perfect alignment of the projector and your image. This way, the projector supports you in any installation, no matter how demanding. In addition, the SONY laser projector has a built-in HDBaseT receiver, giving you a cost-effective means of transmitting high-resolution video and audio files via a single cable.
Let's start with the VPL-PHZ61's state-of-the-art laser technology: unlike conventional lamp-based projectors, this projector is equipped with laser phosphor technology. This means that the laser LCD unit is completely encapsulated, which is why lamp replacement is not necessary. SONY states a minimum laser unit life of 20,000 hours and so you don't need to worry about your investment in the long term either . So if the projector were to run every day around the clock, 24/7 a day, 365 days a year, completely without a break, you would have a guaranteed running time of over 2 years on this projector. Laser output and cooling are automatically adjusted by an optimisation algorithm depending on the frequency of use, which extends the life of the projector. A real advantage over classic lamp projectors. You no longer have to plan for maintenance times, save on operating costs and protect your investment in the long term.
The projector's colour performance is ensured by the brightness of 6400 ANSI lumens, and that in any environment. In the centre of the lens, the brightness is even up to 7000 lumens. With the VPL-PHZ61, you can experience incredibly detailed images in conference rooms, larger classrooms and simulation environments. Colours and colour gradients are always reproduced with precision . As mentioned earlier, the VPL-PHZ61 supports 4K 60P input signals, making it easy for you to set up multiple lower-level flat panel displays. You can split the same 4K signal to control all your display devices without conversion. Even 4K input signals are converted to WUXGA resolution , which is close to 4K picture quality, thanks to a powerful image scaler.
The VPL-PHZ61 laser projector's exclusive Reality Creation function optimises every pixel to enhance the content on the screen without adding digital noise. What's new is that the Reality Creation function has now been optimised for 4K-60P signals, adding even more sharpness and depth to your projected images. In addition, devices with content protection such as 4K UHD players are also supported. More information about the Reality Creation function can be found here.
The built-in Bright View technology ensures that images are always clearly visible, even in bright environments. In addition, the VPL-PHZ61 has a WUXGA resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels in a 16:10 widescreen format. With a higher resolution than Full HD, WUXGA offers a larger viewing area for construction graphics, Excel spreadsheets or PowerPoint presentations, making it perfect for your business or school day.
With SONY's projector, you are provided with both vertical (+/-30°) and horizontal (+/-30°) keystone correction. But a keystone correction always has an impact on the image quality and therefore you should always prefer a lens shift correction if possible. With the lens shift correction the lens is shifted directly and you can make a perfect adjustment of the image to the screen without affecting the image quality. This WUXGA projector from SONY has a manual horizontal lens shift of ±15 and a vertical lens shift of -35 + 55%. With a projection ratio of 1.23 - 1.97 :1 you are perfectly prepared for flexible installation in larger meeting rooms or classrooms and do not have to work 100% cleanly when mounting.
If you are now asking yourself whether this projector is worthwhile for you at all, our answer is: yes! Because first of all, thanks to the long life of 20,000 hours , the VPL-PHZ61 is a reliable solution in the long term, without the brightness diminishing over time. In addition, the laser projector is also a cost-effective solution for you thanks to its energy efficiency: the energy-saving mode allows you to extend the life of the projector and minimise energy consumption. The lamp-free laser light projection source is more environmentally friendly, contributes to a mercury-free environment and also promotes sustainable development. Thanks to the new dust filter system with a dust density of 0.03 mg3 and an operating time of 10,500 hours , filter changes are a thing of the past for conventional use in lecture halls and meeting rooms. However, if you use the VPL-PHZ61 more often in dusty environments, there is a new sensor for this that informs you when the filter needs to be cleaned.
Let's move on to Connections: The SONY VPL-PHZ61 does not require any additional devices to enable long distances between the computer and the projector to be covered by cable. The built-in HDBaseT receiver offers you the possibility of transmitting uncompressed, high-resolution audio and video over a long distance at low cost. To do this, simply connect the projector with a CAT cable (CAT5e or higher). The HDBaseT receiver of the VPL-PHZ61 is compatible with any certified HDBaseT transmitter. For example, you can use it to connect several projectors to each other across several rooms, provided you use an HDBaseT distributor. Especially in large rooms, halls or at events, HDBaseT makes installation much easier and also reduces installation costs. The VPL-PHZ61 has two HDMI inputs (with HDCP), a USB type A (for firmware update), a type A (for power supply), as well as a VGA input, RCA socket and the already mentioned HDBaseT connection. The projector has a 16 watt mono loudspeaker integrated, with which you would already be equipped for presentations or museum exhibitions. You can connect additional loudspeakers or a microphone to the projector via the audio input and output (3.5 mm).
Our conclusion on the Sony VPL-PHZ61: The overall conclusion is that the SONY VPL-PHZ61 is simply convincing in terms of both quality and price. Especially in meetings or in school lessons, the SONY projector scores with its advanced technologies and compact design. The volume of 34dB is not perfect nowadays, there are now devices that are much quieter, but in large rooms and the volume of the projector is only secondary. The background noise of the air conditioning or conversations of participants are much louder. The SONY projector's advantages are its price and its consistently high production quality and image performance, as you would expect from SONY. At the same time the VPL-PHZ61 convinces with an optimisation algorithm for a long lifetime of the projector. So if you're looking for a bright projector that offers reliable, carefree operation and doesn't want to stretch your budget, the SONY VPL-PHZ61 is the perfect choice.
This device is a projector for professional use and is therefore not sold to private customers. We thank you for your understanding.
