The Samsung OH24B all-in-one outdoor display for digital signage perfection

Samsung has released the OH24B, 's smallest outdoor display to date. It has a brightness of 1500 cd/m², a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a contrast ratio of 1,000:1. Samsung has installed an IPS panel so that you are offered wide viewing angles and natural, precise colours. Advertising content is displayed perfectly at all times, even in bright sunshine, as the Samsung OH24B has Magic Glass for a reflection-free panel. In addition, even wearers of polarised sunglasses can view all content at all times. The Samsung OH24B can withstand temperatures from -30 to +50 degrees and is therefore ideally equipped for any weather. The integrated temperature sensor also warns you if the operating temperature is too high or too low. The OH24B outdoor display also has an anti-graffiti coating and an IK10 impact resistance rating. The OH24B also has IP66 certification, which means that the device is dustproof and protected against water jets. Thanks to IK10 certification, the small outdoor display is also protected against vandalism. The Samsung OH24B is particularly attractive for petrol stations, electric charging stations or drive-thru applications.

IP66 certification and IK10 - this display is ready for anything

The OH24B may be small, but it is packed with useful functions: first and foremost, it is robust in all weather conditions. You can use the display at temperatures from -30°C to +50°C. The OH24B is certified with the IP66 protection class, which means that dust and water are no problem and guarantee optimum outdoor use. Samsung has installed Magic Protection Glass in the OH24B. Together with the IK10 rating, the display is thus protected against any damage. If the outer glass of the monitor should break, the sensitive panel underneath will not be damaged. IK10 impact resistance is one of 12 strength classes in the standard. The classes are categorised from IK00, the lowest class, to IK10+, the highest classification. IK10 corresponds to an impact resistance of 20 joules or the fall of an element weighing 5 kg from a height of 40 cm. Thanks to the resistant safety glass, the displays are therefore perfectly protected against vandalism. Areas of application such as railway stations, airports or shopping centres are therefore perfectly suitable and you do not need permanent surveillance. Of course, this is a great advantage, especially for large cities.

Even wearers of polarised sunglasses can see everything on the OH24B

The Samsung OH24B is also UL-verified for outdoor visibility. It features anti-reflective technology that also offers wearers of polarised sunglasses a clear view of your advertising content. Polarised sunglasses are widely used today as they effectively block light reflections from the field of vision and thus significantly reduce glare, which is an enormously important factor, especially when driving. Manufacturers of branded glasses therefore primarily rely on polarised sunglasses. However, anyone who has ever worn polarised sunglasses will quickly realise that you can no longer see any content on conventional displays. The screen simply remains black. Thanks to the anti-reflective technology, however, your advertising can be seen clearly even when wearing polarised sunglasses.

The OH24B can be used in continuous operation

As already mentioned, the OH24B offers a brightness of 1500 cd/m², a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and a contrast ratio of 1000:1, which delivers a true-colour, brilliant image at all times.  It is ready for use around the clock thanks to the 24/7 runtime release. An integrated sensor automatically adjusts the brightness to the light conditions in the surroundings, which ensures greater efficiency and flexibility. Automatically always the perfect setting at any time of day: the display utilises its full power in the afternoon, while in the evening it adjusts the brightness down to the required level.

Samsung VXT ready

The OH24B comes with the latest Samsung TIZEN 6.5 operating system. The integrated quad-core chipset takes over the computing processes that would otherwise require an external PC. So that you can create and publish your digital signage content quickly and efficiently, the OH24B offers integrated Samsung VXT support. Samsung VXT is both a content management system and a remote management system. Depending on the licence, it offers you everything you need for the creation of digital advertising through to the complete management and monitoring of your signage displays. With VXT, you can create schedules and save them directly on the display without additional devices, so that your content is always played at the preset time and the display switches off again automatically as you wish. Even after a power failure, the desired playlist is simply started automatically. As all content is stored on the display's internal memory, a missing internet connection is not a problem. With VXT, you have control over which advertising content is displayed on the screen and you can also manage all firmware updates. With VXT, you have all the prerequisites for trouble-free operation. For example, updates can be scheduled for a specific day and time, which are then automatically installed on the devices.

Tizen operating system and Samsung Knox for the highest security requirements

The TIZEN OS web interface has a user-friendly design and is wonderfully easy to use. TIZEN is based on an open-source platform that is constantly being expanded with new apps and thus continues to grow. The TIZEN OS offers an extremely high level of security thanks to its high security architecture within the software. For public authorities, financial institutions and other information-based companies, it offers the data protection required for efficient processes of the highest importance. 

All the connections you need for digital advertising

Now we come to the connection options of the Samsung OH24B: For external playback devices, there is an HDMI 2.0 input with HDCP 2.2 connection and two USB 2.0 connections. You can connect external speakers via the 3.5 mm jack connection, as no speakers have been installed in the OH24B. Incidentally, the connections are of course not accessible to everyone, but are hidden and closed behind a removable cover so that you can easily change connections. A classic LAN connection is available for connecting to your network. However, a wireless WiFi connection and connectivity via Bluetooth are also possible. For this purpose, the external WiFi/Bluetooth module (included in the scope of delivery) is connected to the OH24B to support a higher receiver connection. The WiFi/Bluetooth accessory can be positioned in different installation environments.

Our conclusion on the OH24B:

Where people used to rely on outdoor displays that were as large as possible, smaller displays are now also popular, especially as additional devices to expand the portfolio and also reach customers directly at the POS/POI. With its 24 inch screen diagonal (approx. 60 cm), it is currently the smallest outdoor display from Samsung and is designed for professional outdoor use.
