The PT-C-HDEARC-4K is an HDMI eARC adapter and extractor. It transmits eARC and ARC signals from a connected TV or projector (from any player connected via HDMI) uncompressed via a separate HDMI audio output and including 720p black picture to an AVR, amplifier or soundbar. This also makes older AVRs compatible with the latest audio formats. The adapter / extractor is HDMI 2.0b and HDCP 2.3 compliant. It supports a bandwidth of 18Gbps for resolutions up to 4K / UltraHD with 60Hz and incl. HDR formats. EDID and eARC or pass-through functions can be controlled via two DIP switches. Looped HDMI signals are processed and forwarded with equaliser and reclocking.
PureTools PT-C-HDEARC-4K is the ideal tool to make the latest multi-channel audio formats compatible with older AVRs, amplifiers or soundbars. The eARC adapter and extractor is compatible with the HDMI 2.0b specification including HDCP 2.3 and supports resolutions up to 4K / UltraHD at up to 60Hz with a bandwidth of 18Gbit/s, including HDR formats such as HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. It has an HDMI input for source devices up to 4K and two HDMI outputs for TV and AV receiver or soundbar. Thanks to its compatibility with various multi-channel sound formats such as LPCM 5.1 and 7.1, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True-HD, Dolby Atmos, DTS 5.1, DTS ES 6.1, DTS HRA, DTS HD Master, DTS:X and stereo signals, it mediates between older and newer generation devices that would otherwise not be compatible with each other. The second output of the PT-C-HDEARC-4K always provides the uncompressed audio signal together with a 720p resolution black screen. This ensures long-term compatibility with older AV receivers, amplifiers and soundbars. If the PT-C-HDEARC-4K is connected to the eARC or ARC connection of a supposedly super-resolution 8K@60Hz (or 4K@120Hz) TV, the audio transmission still works, as only the eARC or ARC signal is decoupled.
The PT-C-HDEARC-4K supports three different usage scenarios in this context:
1. Any source device is connected directly to a compatible TV set. The eARC or ARC signal of the source device is transmitted to the PT-C-HDEARC-4K via the eARC output of the TV set. From there, it is forwarded to the AV receiver as a compatible signal.
2. A 4K source device is connected directly to the input of the PT-C-HDEARC-4K. This loops the entire signal through to a connected TV set on one side and extracts the sound as a compatible signal to the AV receiver on the other side.
3. The eARC/ARC signal from the TV set's internal receiver or media player is transmitted to the PT-C-HDEARC-4K via the TV set's eARC output and from there forwarded to the AV receiver as a compatible signal.
The PT-C-HDEARC-4K not only decouples the audio signal, but also processes and synchronises the incoming signals so that they can be transmitted over long distances without loss. In this context, it is also responsible for forwarding CEC signals between the devices. It also has an EDID management function. This allows the EDID of a connected TV set to be read out and forwarded or to switch to a standard EDID if the handshake fails. The EDID to be read out can be set via DIP switches on the front of the device. The second DIP switch is used to switch the eARC decoupling on and off. When the eARC function is activated, the eARC or ARC signal is output at the second audio output. If the eARC function is switched off, the audio signal present at the HDMI input is forwarded to the second output. If the eARC function is switched on, the audio signal present at the HDMI input is forwarded to the second output.
The PureTools PT-C-HDEARC-4K is a great solution to avoid having to replace an existing AV receiver. The eARC extractor bridges the gap between the latest audio formats and older audio hardware. Perfect for any home entertainment system.
