The SpectraView® Engine is a colour processing module integrated into the Sharp/NEC MultiSync P495-MPi4. It combines custom monitor characterisation and calibration with temperature and timing monitoring to provide an unparalleled level of colour control, accuracy and stability. You can correct for colour uniformity in the process: Using factory measurements and the SpectraView® engine, the display of your content is then produced with the best possible match. From faster and improved colour calibration, to the ability to accurately mimic colour spaces such as Adobe®RGBand sRGB, to printer emulations with ICC profiles and internal 3D lookup tables. The module also includes the NEC Interface Board, allowing you to use intelligent digital signage support such as the Watch Dog Timer or Real Time Clock for your planning. Pre-installed licences for video decoding are also available, so the P495-MPi4 also covers the special needs of professional signage applications. With the Quad Core 64-bit ARM Cortex 72 1.5 GHZ processor, you get impressive performance and can play back content in ultra-high 4K resolution at a very good price-performance ratio. The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 supports an integrated media player that can be used to play content on the MultiSync P495-MPi4 display via USB. In addition, other powerful functions are also available thanks to the NEC MediaPlayer: The pre-installed NEC MediaPlayer is an intuitive plug-and-play digital signage solution that is easy to manage and guides users to stunning visual experiences. Through the NEC MediaPlayer's intuitive user interface, you can load, schedule and edit playlists, access internal storage, retrieve online media via an internal browser or connect the Raspberry Pi4 module to CMS platforms from qualified partners - all with the NEC remote control or remotely via web interface.

Let's take a closer look at the NEC MediaPlayer: With the MediaPlayer software, you can quickly and easily realise and manage your personal digital signage content. With the NEC solution, you can play back your desired content in impressive quality shortly after switching it on, regardless of whether you already have experience with such signage systems or not. You can easily select the different input sources via the on-screen menu. For example, you can also simply set the order in which you want your content to be played and save it in a playlist. The internal 32GB hard disk memory (4GB are occupied by the OS, 28GB are available for files) allows you to save even more complex picture and video content locally. The complete MPi4 NEC MediaPlayer Kit has an integrated WiFi module and an external antenna so that, for example, the web browser can also be opened and you can show your company homepage.

Above all, however, the Sharp/NEC MultiSync P495-MPi4 scores points when more computing power is required: the display has an Intel® SDM slot that is compatible with Intel® Smart Display Modules (Large/Small). The module can be inserted directly into the designated slot of the MultiSync P495-MPi4 without installing external devices or cumbersome video and audio cabling. The MultiSync P495-MPi4 Display from Sharp/NEC supports simultaneous display of multiple images via Multi Picture Mode. In conjunction with the SpectraView® Engine, colours can be matched to the individual images as required so that the content is displayed optimally in each area of the display. You can display up to 4 images on one display. This is ideal for meetings in which you want to show several pieces of information side by side. For example, this mode is suitable for discussing medical X-ray images for seminar purposes or for displaying charts, statistics and Excel tables side by side to compare data.

With the Sharp/NEC MultiSync P495-MPi4 you also have the option of connecting several displays of this series to form a video wall. To do this, you can use the daisy chain function via the DisplayPort output. By daisy-chaining the HDMI Out or DisplayPort Out video connections, a video wall is created in which a single image can be played back across all monitors in tiles. Nowadays, video walls are not only used in large shopping centres and shops, but installations of several flat screens also make sense as information boards in public places or in control rooms. In principle, this option of linking several displays together and displaying a larger image is a practical possibility. However, if you want to use a wall as a permanent solution, we recommend the special video wall displays for this application or an LED wall right away.

The MultiSync P495-MPi4 can distribute both HDMI and DisplayPort input signals directly via daisy chain. DisplayPort daisy-chaining has also been extended to include DisplayPort 1.4 and HBR3 functions. This means that up to four independent displays can now be driven from the same DisplayPort source via MST (Multi-Stream Transport)* by bundling multiple video streams into a single stream and sending it to the display, which then unbundles the signals back into the original streams - ideal for menu boards and retail applications. You also have the ability to handle 8K signals via the DisplayPort connector: By grouping screens together using the Tile Matrix function, i.e. when DisplayPort video signals are displayed across multiple monitors, true 8K video can be played back using a daisy-chain connection via the DisplayPort port.

Now and then it may happen that due to the failure of a signal source content is no longer shown on the display. For this reason, Sharp/NEC has developed the Input Detect function for the P495-MPi4: this allows you to prioritise up to three input sources, which the display can then access if a main signal source fails. The display then switches automatically according to your defined prioritisation. The First Detect option also ensures that the display switches on automatically when a source is connected and the display thus receives a synchronised signal.

In this context, let's move on to the topic of connection options: Here two HDMI 2.0 inputs and two DisplayPort inputs are available, with which you can connect computers and Blu-ray or DVD players, for example. For the necessary sound, external speakers can also be added, such as the Passive Collaboration Soundbars, which you can find in our shop. USB ports are also built into the unit: The USB downstream port (type A) is suitable for external devices such as cameras, flash memory or keyboards. With the USB-B upstream port, you connect your PC via a USB cable and can then control the devices connected to the USB port. In addition, there is a USB port for devices that need a power supply, such as a multi-presenter stick for the next corporate presentation.

Facility managers also benefit from the Sharp/NEC MultiSync P495-MPi4 display, because thanks to the integrated LAN and the NaViSet Administrator 2 software tool, the display can be controlled via the network. All connected NEC devices can be managed from a central location. Change settings or perform operations on the units, such as power on/off, change input signal, mute, etc., or check settings and/or parameters on a regular basis. In addition to landscape and portrait installation, the Sharp/NEC MultiSync P495-MPi4 also offers the special feature of face-up and face-down installation: i.e. you have the option of installing the display with the screen surface facing up or down. Only very, very few displays on the market really have this option. Normally, these have a maximum tilt angle of up to 15°. The thus opens up new possibilities for you, to make an immediate impression on customers and present information in exciting new ways , e.g. for high-profile retail advertising, for menu boards in fast-food restaurants or innovative signposts and points of interest (POI) in public spaces. For mounting, you can use the VESA standard 300 x 300 mm and the weight of 22.9 kg as a guide. You have the options of either installing the display directly on the wall using a wall bracket or using a ceiling bracket (for face-down installation), a stand, a trolley or a height-adjustable bracket. In the design of the MultiSync P495-MPi4, Sharp/NEC has paid attention to a robust construction. In the housing structure plastic has been completely dispensed with: The frame and the rear cover are made entirely of metal and are therefore not only sustainable but also particularly safe.
