With the BenQ LU960UST ultra-short-throw projector, you get a realistic experience with long-lasting performance and versatile projection options. The LU960UST laser projector is looking to make a grand entrance in museums, event and corporate spaces and directly at the POS, where shadows and glare must be avoided at all costs. You can also install the LU960UST in locations with very little space, as the extremely short projection ratio of just 0.25 still produces large images. Thanks to BlueCore laser technology, the BenQ LU960UST ultra-short-throw projector delivers a high brightness of 5200 ANSI lumens, promising you long-lasting performance. With a lamp life of 20,000 hours in normal mode, you will have virtually no maintenance costs and downtime. Thanks to 360° and portrait projection and 24/7 operation, the LU960UST offers you a high degree of installation flexibility and a wide range of application scenarios. Your projected image can be perfectly customised to your premises and display images of at least 100 to 150 inches (215-320 cm screen diagonal), all without additional and cost-intensive installation work.
BlueCore laser technology of the LU960UST ultra-short throw projector
With BlueCore laser technology, images, presentations, infographics and documents are projected in outstanding WUXGA resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The added value you get from this laser technology is, on the one hand, a longer lamp life than with conventional projectors and, on the other, a higher lumen output. The deviation-free adjustment of the BlueCore laser diodes increases the luminous flux in the light tunnel and improves the light output to 5,200 lumens. At first glance, BenQ laser projectors may be somewhat more expensive to purchase, but you have a high degree of planning security for your investment from the outset, as you do not have to plan for any maintenance costs. Another advantage of laser projectors is the extremely high colour quality. BenQ uses dual colour wheels for the LU960UST projector. This eliminates the white segment of the classic colour wheel and enables richer RGBY colours. Thanks to a perfect mix of red, green, blue and yellow colour segments, the result cannot be compared with a classic lamp projector. With a 92% coverage of the Rec.709 colour space, a correspondingly high colour gamut and the purity of the RGBY colour values, the LU785 significantly improves colour saturation and thus consistently guarantees optimum colour performance. An extremely impressive feature of BlueCore laser technology is its enormous longevity. The projector is able to work for 20,000 hours without any impairment. In contrast to classic lamp projectors, the brightness does not decrease by approx. 50% after half the running time (usually after approx. 2,500 hours). Although a laser projector costs slightly more to purchase than a comparable lamp projector, it protects your investment in the long term and ensures a perfect image without compromising on image quality even years later. The LU960UST can be operated 24/7, which is particularly advantageous in public areas such as museums or exhibitions. You can also choose between three different energy modes for the light source and thus optimise the overall energy consumption or even increase the service life of the lamps to up to 70,000 hours using the eco mode.
Class images: High brightness, dynamic dimming, fast mode and a customised light mode
The high brightness of 5200 ANSI lumens is achieved thanks to the zero deviation of the BlueCore laser diodes. This optimises the luminous flux within the light channel, thereby increasing light efficiency. The excellent brightness of the laser projector is complemented by ultra-high contrast with a 3,000,000:1 ratio. This gives you razor-sharp images, deep blacks and vivid colours. Another function of the LU960UST is a particular plus point for locations such as museums, galleries or showrooms: the ultra-short-throw projector from BenQ has a dynamic dimming setting. This analyses the brightness values of certain scenes, optimises the light output and generates higher contrast values. Fine details are accentuated more strongly, especially in dark image areas, and a dynamic image performance is generated overall.
Your content is also made more dynamic by the integrated fast mode: with a latency of just 16.67 ms, the LU960UST laser projector can display dynamic and interactive scenes. This function is ideal for a bike shop, for example, where the latest e-mountain bike is to be presented in a cycling simulation. With this kind of high-quality image, you will attract the attention of your audience.
Staying with museums, the LU960UST laser projector has another useful function: for example, if you have two projectors that need to display a very large projection and you want to maintain a consistently high brightness across multiple projections. Then you have the user-defined light mode for this, with which the light output can be adjusted from 40% to 100% in 80 steps. The entire projection is thus adapted to many different situations with different ambient light.
Use even in confined spaces thanks to ultra-short throw design
What naturally characterises the LU960UST laser projector is its ultra-short projection. With a projection ratio of just 0.25, it produces life-size images even in small and confined spaces. This feature is particularly suitable for digital signage, in museums and galleries or in classrooms and presentation environments. You don't have to worry about disturbing shadows and light reflections with this device, which also means that your flexibility of use is unrestricted.
Projection and customisation options of the LU960UST
The laser projector allows you to realise 360° and portrait projections. BenQ guarantees a reliable image from any angle: ceilings, walls, floors, unusual corners and angles - no problem for the LU960UST. You get a complete package when it comes to image adjustment options: it is equipped with a two-dimensional keystone correction range of ±30 degrees in both horizontal and vertical directions. If the projector cannot be positioned in the centre, the undesirable keystone effect occurs. The keystone correction allows you to adjust all corners of the projection individually so that the image geometry is perfectly aligned at the end. Thanks to lens shift, you can also move the projection up or down by 5% of the screen height. The image is not artificially processed and the image quality remains unaffected. This allows you to adjust the projector perfectly to the screen, even in difficult installation conditions. The complete package also includes digital image scaling: This means you don't need to reinstall or adjust the LU960UST if the projector is used in the same environment but with different image source formats or aspect ratios. This is because you can reduce the image in steps of 0.5% up to 80% of the original size. In addition to a wide variety of locations, such as museums, stages, gala events, showrooms or large company premises, the laser projector also offers a wide range of installation options.
DICOM gamma curve
Interesting for the medical professionals among you: The LU960UST laser projector also has DICOM simulation mode, which can be used to display medical images such as X-ray images. Quality is extremely important in this area, as the highest possible image resolution and best possible greyscale reproduction ensure that the digitally displayed images correspond as closely as possible to a conventional X-ray image. This mode is suitable for medical training or educational purposes, for example. Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) is a global open standard for the storage and exchange of medical image data. For the projection of medical images, DICOM specification 14 on greyscale behaviour plays the decisive role. With normal projectors, fine details are lost in the grey scales due to the high-contrast display. This is prevented in the DICOM specification by defining the greyscale behaviour with the help of a gamma curve. This gamma curve is specially designed for black and white displays of medical systems. By calibrating the projector according to the DICOM specification 14, taking into account the current ambient light conditions, the screen and the projector used, the best possible adaptation of the gamma curve to the visual characteristics of the human eye is guaranteed.
Integrated network control and management system compatibility
Of course you can integrate the BenQ LU960UST into your company network. With BenQ's MDA software, you can control and monitor your projectors, set switch-on/switch-off times and create schedules. This is a real boon, especially when using several projectors in different rooms. For IT administrators, this enables remote and centralised management of multiple digital projectors over a local network. The management features include the ability to remotely monitor, control and configure projectors individually or as a group. More information can be found here. Also integrate the laser projector with existing Crestron, AMX and PJ-Link media control, ensuring smooth integration and reducing the cost of centralised maintenance of multiple projectors. Connections of the BenQ LU960UST
2x HDMI (HDCP 2.2), 1x monitor output (D-sub 15pin), 1x PC (D-sub 15pin), 1x mini USB type (for maintenance purposes only) and 1x USB type A are available for image transmission. In addition to the obligatory HDMI inputs, the projector also offers an extremely useful HDMI output. In large rooms, several projection surfaces can be set up within seconds, or you can simply forward the projector signal to an existing display for the best viewing experience. The LU960ST is also equipped with a certified DisplayPort 1.2a. This allows audio and video signals to be transmitted simultaneously: The high bandwidth of DisplayPort 1.2a offers higher resolutions, higher refresh rates and greater colour depth. In addition, the two small barb structures on the connector provide a friction lock and an optional mechanical lock. Audio has also been considered. The projector has a mini-jack input and a speaker that is only equipped with 10 watts. We recommend integrating additional speakers for an even better sound experience. You can find a small selection in our shop. A LAN and RS232 connection are also available for integration into your network or an existing media control system. You can control and monitor all input and output signals simultaneously via RS232 and create impressive multi-projections. The LU960UST also includes 3D Sync IN/OUT connections, allowing you to combine up to three projectors with a single PC and project 3D content.
Using the HDBaseT connection, you can transmit the control, audio and video signal in the best HD quality via a conventional network cable (Cat 5e/6) up to 100 metres. Especially in large rooms, halls or at events, HDBaseT makes installation much easier and also reduces installation costs. Simple integration into Crestron, AMX and PJ Link is possible at any time. For a fast connection, you can also use the LAN port and the MDA ("Multiple Display Administrator") software. Especially for institutions and companies, this variant offers powerful, centralised control of several BenQ projectors, with automatic opening and closing processes for publicly accessible rooms, remote-controlled switching on and off and scheduling. You can also integrate the laser projector into existing Extron, Crestron, AMX and PJ-Link media control systems for seamless integration. This can be done via LAN (RJ45) or RS232 (up to 15 metres). The BenQ LU960UST has excellent dust protection with IP5X certification: BenQ laser projectors are equipped with sealed laser modules and enclosed light engines to protect the DMD chip, colour wheel sensor, laser package and other optical components. This lock-and-key design hermetically seals the engine from dust, extending the life of the projector. The BenQ LU960UST features a colour wheel sensor with a sophisticated anti-dust function that prolongs optimal performance by repelling dust that can accumulate on the conventional sensor and block the IR signal, resulting in flickering, abnormal colours or even shutdown.
