Everything you need to know about mounts and how to find the perfect mount yourself
Our customers ask us almost daily whether this mount is also suitable for their signage display, TV or monitor. We are also frequently asked which mount is the right one for the desired application. There are so many different solutions, such as wall mounts, floor-wall mounts, floor stands, trolleys, floor-ceiling mounts, etc. The choice is almost endless and if you're not a professional, it's easy to lose track. We will also explain what information is important so that you are able to choose a suitable mount yourself and therefore do not necessarily have to rely on the help of our customer service team.
How do you find the right mount for your screen?
We will be happy to show you what information you need and how you can quickly find the right mount yourself.
Two relevant values are required to determine a suitable wall bracket. If you know these two values, you can use them to display all suitable wall brackets in our shop. But what are these values?
- VESA standard of the display, TV or monitor
- Weight of the display, TV or monitor
You can find the VESA standard for each display, TV and monitor either directly under the specifications in our shop or in the manufacturer's data sheet and user manual. The VESA standard or VESA standards are the internationally established mounting standards for attaching signage displays, televisions or monitors. The distance in millimetres between the four mounting holes on the back of the device is defined by the universal VESA standard. Normally, all televisions, monitors and displays are VESA-compatible. However, there are also exceptions, usually special solutions where the manufacturer provides its own mount. In these cases, no VESA standard is defined.
That's right. Most universal mounts offered by manufacturers are labelled with a from - to value. This means that a VESA range within the from - to value can be covered with this mount.
A universal mount is provided with a VESA standard of 200x200 - 600x400 mm. This means that you can attach all displays that have a VESA standard within this range to this mount. For example, if your display has a hole spacing of 400x400 or 400x300 mm, it will also fit on this mount.
However, a display with a VESA standard of 200x100mm or 600x600mm will not fit on this mount.
However, manufacturers do not always specify a value of up to, even though the mount would cover different VESA ranges. This is usually very difficult for a layperson to recognise. If you want to be on the safe side, it is best to look for a mount that fulfils the exact VESA value required.
Yes, that is possible. You can determine yourself at any time whether your TV, signage display or monitor is VESA-compliant or which VESA standard your screen has. All you need is a ruler or folding rule.
Simply measure the holes on the back of the device. First measure the distance horizontally and then the distance vertically. Always measure from the centre of the hole to the centre of the hole. As a rule, a square measurement is determined, but this does not necessarily have to be the case.
Examples of square dimensions: 75x75 / 100x100 / 200x200 / 400x400 mm etc.
The situation is different if the measurements result in values such as 1310 x 650 mm. If you receive such a value, it is usually a monitor without the VESA standard. You will then either need an adapter that enables mounting on a bracket with the VESA standard, or you will need to purchase a display-specific bracket.
What mounting solutions are available for screens?
At this point, we would like to show you the most important mounting solutions. We also explain directly which values you need from your signage screen, TV or monitor in order to be able to select the right mount.
Fixed / rigid wall mounts for displays, TVs and monitors
Tiltable / swivelling wall mounts for displays, TVs and monitors
Stands for displays and TVs
Trolleys for displays and TVs
Our display is the Samsung QE98C. A 98-inch signage display - a great entry-level device for conference and meeting rooms. The VESA standard for this display is 600x400 mm and the weight of the screen is 65.8 kg. These are the most important details to note.
We are looking for a suitable wall mount that can be tilted and is designed for our Samsung QE98C. We have already checked the load-bearing capacity of the wall in advance. Incidentally, this should always be done, as it is not always possible to mount heavy displays on lightweight walls in particular.
1. Step
We go to the "Brackets" category in the shop and then select the "Wall brackets" sub-category. This allows us to refine the search results directly.
2. Step
Here's a tip: you can set the weight slightly higher. Either round it up to 66 kg in our example, for example, or use a slightly higher value so that you are a little more flexible in the future if you ever want to replace the display with a larger version. You can also add something to the maximum screen size. We set the minimum filter to 98 inches and leave the maximum size at 130 inches to give you more choice.
3. Step
If we have set all the values correctly, you will now see all the wall mounts that can be tilted and are suitable for your display. The tilt function is not restricted either, as we have taken the manufacturer's recommended screen size into account. Now it's up to you to make the right choice for you from the list of all possible mounts. That's all you need to do to find the right wall mount for your display.
If you need assistance with this, our customer service team will be happy to help you at any time.
What other topics can be relevant for mounts
There are also other issues that should definitely be considered when choosing the right mount for a screen, signage display or monitor. We show you these points here.
It's not easy to determine the optimum height for a wall mount.
In principle: Yes, you can attach the wall brackets to any wall. However, there are of course some restrictions, which we would like to outline for you here.
- With walls made of concrete or stone, you generally don't need to worry about the weight of the display. If you use suitable wall plugs and screws, your display will be securely attached to the wall at all times. With concrete or stone walls, you generally don't need to worry about the weight of the display. With the right wall plugs and screws, your display will be held securely to the wall at all times. Concrete and stone walls are perfect for mounting a screen or TV.
- The situation is slightly different with lightweight walls. There are a few pitfalls and tips to bear in mind here. Generally, the construction plans usually include a release that specifies how much weight can be attached to the respective plaster wall. It is recommended that you adhere to these specifications. Use cavity plugs of the correct length for installation and ensure the correct screw length. All screw holes must be used so that the load is evenly distributed over the surface. Multiplex boards, which are simply screwed to the wall, are a good additional reinforcement solution. With plasterboard walls, the leverage effect must be taken into account when choosing a swivelling wall bracket. This applies in particular to heavy displays.
